I was lucky enough to find this gem in London recently. Located in Fitzrovia, Portland boasts a coveted Michelin star. Upon arrival, the friendly waiter asked if I had any dietary requirements. I told them I was vegan, and they quickly reassured me that, although there weren’t any vegan dishes on the menu, the chef would be happy to veganise several of the plates.
First up, the amuse bouche was a delightful mushroom broth. It was one of the most delicious things I have eaten in my life, and I would happily eat it every day.
I enjoyed a delicate and beautiful fattoush and flowers salad for the starter.
Next up was Delica squash, king oyster mushrooms, sea vegetables and hazelnut, which was perfectly balanced and enjoyable.
Following such culinary triumphs, I could not say no to a strawberry dessert created especially for me. It was again beautifully presented and not too heavy. A perfect way to leave a sweet taste in my mouth.
I should mention that the overall atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, with attentive, impeccable service. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I hope to be able to visit again soon!
